BunnyBass represents: Rick Turner.
"Rick Turner is one of the most important figures working in the field of amplified stringed instruments since Leo Fender. We can't think of another individual who has singlehandedly exerted more influence on the development of electric basses and guitars over the past thirty-some years... Anybody who knows us here at BunnyBass understand that we have been admirers of Mr. Turner's work for a very long time. Harry has been in love with his work since his early days at Alembic, and Jon has been trying (unsuccessfully) to acquire a Turner Model 1-type bass for about 15 years. This bass, together with the early small-bodied Alembics, are certainly two of the most beautiful and elegant basses ever designed..." ~BunnyBass review, 2002.
In January 2003, we formalized a relationship with Rick Turner that will result in the creation of some very special guitars and basses for BunnyBass. Rick has been developing a new 'featherweight' Model 1 guitar, and Jon and Nancy had a chance to try it when they went to visit Rick's shop in Santa Cruz, California last year. The guitar's design consists of a chambered (semi-hollow) cedar body with hardwood caps, as well as a unique, graphite-reinforced cedar neck. The guitar was absolutely incredible in engineering, playability, and sound. As the name implies, it was also superlight, resonant, and alive. Rick is currently building us one these guitars, and a bass version as well (only the second featherweight Model 1 bass ever built - Rick is keeping the first one for himself!). All of us here at BunnyBass are extremely excited about these recent developements and very much look forward to receiving, testing, and documenting these instruments. If you are interested in ordering a custom built instrument from Rick, please send us an e-mail with your ideas.
